Financial Accounting and Reporting Manager

Position Purpose
This role is a member of the Financial Accounting and Reporting team for Cargill Agricultural Supply Chain North America. Reporting to the NA Accounting & Reporting Manager- CASC, this individual is accountable for the accuracy of the business financial statements, enabling financial reporting and analysis capabilities and pursuing continuous improvement of month end close processes across CASCNA Business Group, which include the Grain, Processing, Crop Inputs and Cotton businesses across the US and Canada. This role will ensure proper financial controls are in place, and financial risks are mitigated appropriately. This individual is the Controls Review Package(s) owner for US and Canada. This position is a key partner to Cargill Business Services (CBS) and works closely with CBS Mgr and Team Leads towards consistency in activities across NA and stabilization of migrated work. This person will be a critical partner to the SAP implementation project team for the financial reporting and accounting activities in the upcoming migration of CASCNA businesses into SAP over the next 4 years. To accomplish this, the person in this role partners with other A&F domains, Cargill Business Services (CBS), FP&A, Corporate A&F, Country Controller and other Centers of Expertise.
Principal Accountabilities
40% Financial Reporting and Partnering
Accountable for accurate monthly financial reporting and financial statements, including balance sheet, profit and loss, return on investment, that reflect the activities of the business.
Accountable for month end close working closely with CBS partners to ensure timeliness and accuracy of activites.
Complete monthly reporting and business financial reviews, analyzing and discussing the key insights from the actual financial results with the business.
Provide financial and technical expertise on complex accounting issues to ensure accuracy of financial statements leveraging the financial expertise of Corporate A&F, Technical Accounting, Controls and other process advisors.
Lead the development and implementation of reporting and analytics tools, dashboards, metrics, data sets using Tableau, Power BI or similar tools.
Owner of the annual budget process partnering with FP&A, A&F and functional leads.
Provide leadership and partner with other functional teams to establish the ongoing development of financial information that support the business decisions and strategic goals.
Actively lead the implementation of finance initiatives and process improvements such as ERP system changes.
Understand commodity and foreign exchange risk positions to ensure accurate representation in the financial statements
Provide technical accounting expertise for MADJV activities, as needed, in collaboration with relevant functions and partners.
40% - People and Talent Management

Champion and support change management activities for finance activities and processes.
10% - Financial Controls
Own the execution of the quarterly CRP process and own follow-up actions as required.
Ensure compliance with the financial control framework and that financial controls are designed properly and operating effectively across end-to-end financial processes.
Escalate control deficiencies to the Controls Advisor.
Facilitates the completion of internal & external audits and compliance reviews.
Manage tax and compliance reporting for the business, including transfer pricing requirements.
Other financial control activities as needed.
10% - Continuous Improvement
Leverage technology to improve financial reporting effectiveness and efficiency
Collaborative across business process (PRTP, OTSC, RTR) owners and providers to streamline processes and ensure accountability for accurate business financial statements.
Ensures proper data governance for business activities and proper alignment with data standards.
Build capability and business knowledge within CBS.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
Accounting or Finance degree 5 years or more of financial reporting and accounting experience
2 years of direct management
Strong technical skills and GAAP knowledge
Preferred Qualifications
10 years or more of financial reporting and accounting experience
5 years of direct management or equivalent experience
CPA, MBA, or other advanced certificate or degree in finance/accounting
Experience effectively leading a team through change
Experience with multiple businesses and/or international business experience
Experience using business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau)
Experience manging data to develop reports, analysis and inisghts
Experience with J. D. Edwards, SAP or other intergrated business systems
Experience with Shared Services migrations
Trading business and/or processing/manufacturing experience
Experience leveraging financial and business systems to monitor business activities and aid in decision making

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
