Accounting & Finance Mergers, Acquisitions, Divestitures, and Joint Ventures Senior Analyst


This position is responsible for leading and coordinating the accounting activities specific to acquisitions, joint ventures, and divestitures in the North America Accounting & Finance (NA A&F) organization. This role supports the NA A&F MADJV Due Diligence & Integration Lead in completing the reporting required to properly account for MADJV activities, including acquisition and sales balance sheets, gain/loss calculations, and purchase accounting, ensuring that these are properly reported in the general ledger. This position oversees timeline of deliverables for the MADJV projects, including report out to senior leadership on project status. This role supports integration efforts by providing technical GAAP expertise to ensure accounting systems and close process are established to meet Cargill financial reporting requirements. For sales of businesses, this role reviews remaining balances and activity for reasonableness based on business activities and completes the Controllers Review Package. This position will work with across a broad range of functions (e. g. Cargill Business Services (CBS) Finance, Corporate A&F, Technical Accounting, Legal, and Tax) to ensure complete and accurate MADJV reporting activities.30% MADJV Financial Reporting Activities
  • Supports the preparation of acquisition and sales balance sheets and gain/loss calculations on sales.
  • Oversees accuracy of recording acquisition and sales balance sheets in the general ledger.
  • Ensures that the general ledger reflects an accurate gain/loss on sale.
  • Leads integration of results into current local, group, corporate financial and management reporting processes, working across domains and Corporate A&F teams.
  • Participates in discussions with tax, legal, and corporate strategy to assess financial reporting impacts on implementing new operating models post acquisition (e. g. legal entity versus asset purchase).
30% Project Oversight and Management Reporting
  • Oversees timeline of deliverables for MADJV projects.
  • Partners with outside consulting (e. g Big Four accounting firms) to successfully see acquisition valuation projects through to completion.
  • Participates in MADJV steering committee meetings with senior leadership to provide updates on status of acquisition integrations, divestitures, etc.
  • Partners with Corp A&F to understand changes in corporate allocation and stranded cost impact.
  • Serves as a point of contact for transition service agreements.
30% Sales of Business Accounting and Reviews
  • Clarifies responsibilities of remaining business activities.
  • Coordinates corporate structure requests and understands timing/steps to liquidation.
  • Facilitates open accounting and finance items or issue resolution for sold business.
  • Establishes and streamlines accounting and reporting processes with shared services.
  • Complete the Controller s Review Package for sold business groups.
10% Due Diligence of MADJV Targets
  • Performs due diligence on MADJV targets, highlighting risks for senior leadership to consider in valuation.
  • Serves as point of contact for contracted outside due diligence firms, ensuring proper scope areas are covered. Additionally, this will include reporting key findings to senior leadership.


Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Previous MADJV experience
  • Understanding of US GAAP
  • Proven accounting/finance leader with strong attention to detail and financial controls
  • Ability to communicate, influence and build trust across multiple stakeholder groups

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of applicable experience
  • Understanding and experience working with JDE and SAP
  • Experience working with a shared service center

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
