Global HR Solutions Communications Lead

Position Purpose & Summary

Guided by an HR strategy that is focused on evolving our culture, developing our leaders, and engaging our people, the HR team worldwide has transformed every aspect of the way it operates to unleash the power of our people in support of our business objectives. This strategy is powered by an operating model that includes Centers of Expertise (COE) to provide thought leadership, strategies, and solutions; Business HR to provide decision support to leadership teams and the creation of business-focused people and organizational strategies ; and Global HR Solutions (GHRS) to deliver HR processes and solutions.

GHRS is composed of 1100 talented individuals located in 66 countries and supports business performance and growth through expert consultation and delivery of HR solutions to Cargill managers and employees. Within this dynamic, fast-paced environment, we are looking for a seasoned communications leader who will use his or her extensive understanding of internal, external and marketing communications practices to develop comprehensive GHRS communication strategy and communication plans that drive change, build employee engagement, and position GHRS leaders internally and externally. The person will have a track record of success with developing compelling narratives; executive presentations; stakeholder communications; and have mastery of digital, social and traditional communications channels. The leader will work closely with GHRS leadership in a consulting and advising capacity, in addition to their communications duties.

The GHRS communications lead and will be a member of the global HR communications team, working directly with the Global HR Communications Leader to improve quality, drive efficiency, increase effectiveness, and deliver value to HR that enables HR to deliver value to Cargill. This person will possess a continuous improvement mindset, decisiveness and gravitas with leaders, and they will enjoy collaboration, be comfortable working in a project management environment, be familiar with communicating data and metrics, and fully engage as a member of a high-performing team.

The GHRS communications leader will report into the Global HR Communications Leader and work closely with the Global HR Solutions Leader.Principal Accountabilities

70% Internal/External Communications

  • Develops and executes a comprehensive internal communications and change strategy for GHRS and implements tactics. Understands how to connect the GHRS strategy to the overall HR communication strategy.
  • Establishes and oversees the communications narrative and message framework for GHRS, evolving and communicating the vision real-time as the business strategy evolves.
  • Directs global GHRS communications efforts to engage HR employees, increase business literacy, support and manage significant change, and maintain focus on delivering results in service to the businesses.
  • Manages communications support (strategy and execution) for the GHRS portfolio of projects and change management initiatives.
  • Provides GHRS communications to the global HR communications team for further use to engage the HR job family and increase organizational understanding of HR s value delivery to Cargill.
  • Coaches GHRS leadership on how to effectively communicate in Town Halls, leader briefings and other venues.
  • Collaborates with Global HR Communications Leader, Corporate Affairs and Law on proactive and reactive media relations, corporate responsibility, community engagement and issues management.
  • Aligned with HR communications and PMOs, manages communications metrics and measurement processes to allow continual improvement and determine ongoing actions to ensure continued, sustainable results.
20% Global HR Communications Team/Corporate Affairs Team
  • Fully engage with global HR communications team to improve processes, align overall HR communications, and promote HR brand and value to Cargill audiences. Participate in weekly meetings and take on special projects as assigned.
  • Identify authentic and appropriate opportunities to share broader Cargill narrative, initiatives, priorities, and actions with GHRS team and deploy appropriate communications.
  • Continually identify and share communications best practices with the team for overall continual improvement.
10% People/Budget Management
  • Manages and provides coaching to professionals working within the function, including the modeling of Cargill s Leadership Expectations and values.
  • Partners with members of the HR communications team to develop, manage and engage HR job family. Anticipates future workload and plans for when flex resources might be needed, and manages day-to-day contractor performance. Provides well-conceived businesses cases in support of resource requests.

Qualifications

  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Some flexibility will be required to connect
    with colleagues and markets in different time zones.
  • BS, BA in journalism or equivalent,
    communications, marketing, public relations, English or related liberal arts
    field.
  • 10+ years experience as a communications
    professional.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in developing
    narratives, leadership communications, and communications strategies and in
    tactical execution.
  • Experience counseling senior leadership.
  • Experience managing internal communications and
    change to navigate ambiguity and help build new organizations.
  • Excellent communicator communicates
    effectively through written and oral communications and has exceptional skills
    in helping leaders and organizations define and develop messages that are
    clear, concise, creative and persuasive.
  • Stakeholder engagement and management ability
    to manage multiple, diverse stakeholders in a matrixed environment.
  • Change management experience.
  • Ability to synthesize diverse activities into a
    clear and compelling framework that helps stakeholders understand how discrete
    actions support a broader agenda.
  • Strong coaching and influencing skills and
    experience working in a communications counselor capacity with senior leaders.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity.
  • Strategic approach keen analytical and
    strategic planning skills to develop communications and issue management plans
    that reflect the company s strategy and help advance business growth.
  • Ability to influence leads and communicates
    effectively in complex, competitive and political environments and delivers
    results.
  • Business acumen develops a deep understanding
    of the company s business strategies, industry dynamics and the portfolio of
    its businesses -- how it makes money and enables its customers to thrive.

Preferred
Qualifications
  • Master s degree in business, journalism or
    relevant field.
  • Experience managing communications in large,
    global companies.
  • Experience in human resources or large corporate
    function.
  • Experience leading online communications
    strategies including website, e-mail, social media, or mobile communication.
  • Experience working in matrixed
    environment.
  • Organizational effectiveness, leadership
    coaching.
  • Fluency in French or a language other than
    English.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
