Health and Safety Manager

Position Purpose
Cargill is committed to deploying a health and safety strategy that will achieve Cargill's goal of zero fatalities and serious injuries. Ensuring compliance and deployment of effective policies and standards is critical to achieve that goal. This position is responsible for applying expert knowledge of health and safety practices and standards to develop programs and processes that support execution of Cargill's health and safety strategy, ensure compliance with regulatory and Cargill standards and drive continuous improvement of health and safety performance and results.
Principal Accountabilities
30% Ensure Compliance and Continuously Improving Cargill Health and Safety Results:
Monitors and anticipates impact of key regulatory initiatives as well as science and external stakeholder positioning. Leads and coordinates business embedded and/or external resources to define appropriate responses and the necessary actions to address these impacts and ensure compliance. Applies expert knowledge to conduct compliance reviews and analyzes audit results to confirm that corporate, business and government standards are met. Provides leadership to ensure appropriate follow-up actions are implemented. Participates and leads internal EHS audits as assigned.
30% Lead Cargill Motor Vehicle Safety/Safe Driver Program:
Leads the development of programs and processes to execute Cargill Motor Vehicle Safety/Safe Driver Stragegy. Using expert knowledge designs and delivers training and technology solutions designed to improve motor vehicle safety. Benchmarks internally and externally to identify best practice consistent and in support of Cargill strategy. Develops and implements performance metrics to measure program success and allow external benchmarking.
30% Health and Safety Program Development:
Leads the development of processes to execute Corporate EHS strategies by leading teams of embedded talent and/or external resources to develop, deploy, maintain and continuously improve effective and globally-relevant health and safety programs and design and deliver complex training solutions. (e.g. management systems, safety leadership training, LIFEsaver programs, EHS leader competency, human and organizational performance, contractor safety, off-the-job safety).
10% System Support and Continuous Improvement/Sustaining Mechanisms:
Independently analyzes Cargill EHS management systems, processes and events to identify trends, isolate root causes and provide leadership to ensure that appropriate follow-up actions are being implemented to drive continuous improvement. Activily reviews efficiency and performance of Cargill EHS enterprise software applications and in collaboration with CEHS team implements necessary improvement to drive value and positively impact Cargill health and safety results.
Minimum Required Qualifications
4-year Degree preferably Bachelor's Degree in Science (Health and Safety, Engineering)
12 years experience in operations, health and safety or environment health and safety consulting with 10 years' experience developing and implementing health and safety policies and standards.
EHS Compliance and auditing experience
Ability to communicate, present to and influence all levels of the organization
Ability to lead and manage multiple issues.projects simultaneously
High self-initiative, setting own goals and execution.
Motivations and ability to execute projects/tasks in a timely manner, strong prioritization and time management skills
Willingness to travel 35% including internationally
Ability to execute work with minimal supervision
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skill
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree or degree in Health and Safety, or related technical field
Certified Safety Professional/Certified Industrial Hygienist.
Both plant level and multiple site, business unit and/or corporate experience
EHS management system deployment experience.
Experience in developing and/or executing Driver/Vehicle Safety programs
Demonstrated skills at managing and leading complex and ambiguous situations
Demonstrated ability to facilitate group discussion and meetings.
Demonst rated ability to anticipate and mediate conflict; ability to develop solutions that all parties feel are equitable.
Strong change management skills and demonstrated experience implementing change on a large scale
Experience working in a global / multi-geography environment and an understanding of the complexities it presents
Experience in driving or participating in organizational culture change/shift.
International experience
Fluency in Spanish or other growth area languages
Other relevant information
This position is global role and will interact with and gain visibility with all enterprises and multiple functions.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
