As a team member of Cargill s Global Trading Analytics (GTA) team, this position s primary responsibility will be to leverage agronomic, economical and statistical information to forecast and diagnose US corn, soybean and wheat production to a level of accuracy that will improve Cargill s commodity related trading, logistical and strategic decisions. The crop analysis position will utilize their agronomical and analytical skills to build confidence around crop production related forecasts. The ability for the crop analyst to conduct extensive research, build statistical confidence and fully communicate risks and results to internal customers will be the key to success.
Principal Accountabilities:
Forecast US corn, soybean and wheat production (area and yield)
Advise and communicate results and associated risks directly with customers for risk management/trading purposes
Conduct research to improve accuracy of forecasts
Travel key crop growing regions to monitor/assess crop potential
Manage crop related relationship with Cargill Ag Horizons (elevator network)
Serve as a subject matter expert regarding crop production and economics for our internal customer

Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, Soil Science or Ag-Business
Strong Agricultural experience/background
Travel up to 15 days per month during key crop growing periods (April through September)
Strong communication skills
Experience with Microsoft Office suite
Preferred:
Master s Degree in Agronomy, Agribusiness, Plant Science, Soil Science, Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science
Extensive statistical skills (predictive statistics preferred)
Programming experience
Crop scouting experience (corn, soybeans and wheat)
Strong plant physiology knowledge
