TCF Bank currently has an opening for an Accountant III, Branch Banking Accounting Operations at our Wayzata location.
TheAccountant III, Branch Banking Accounting Operationswill play a significant role in delivering timely, accurate and well-controlled financial statements for TCF's Branch Banking business line.
Specific job duties of the position:
Reviews complicated banking transactions to ensure compliance with GAAP and contractual relationships between TCF and valued partners.
Reviews and approves monthly financial statement preparation activity performed by Branch Banking's Staff Accountants.
Works with Branch Banking Accounting Operations Management Team to prepare and at times communicate the effects of complex journal entries.
Assists Branch Banking's Accounting Operations Management Team in writing memos that communicate to TCF's Sr. Finance Leadership Team significant transactions effecting TCF's Branch Banking Business Line.
Performs forecasting and analysis work relating to TCF's FDIC insurance expense.
Assists with development of internal controls, policies and procedures and updates documentation related to designated responsibilities.
Serves as a senior member on project teams designed around automating and streamlining TCF's Branch Banking accounting functions.
Ensures the accuracy of TCF's balance sheet accounts through preparation of account reconciliations. This includes the review and approval of reconciliations performed by other Branch Banking Accounting Personnel.
Qualifications:
Candidates for this position must meet the following requirements:
4 to 6 years of previous related accounting experience is required. Candidates with 3 years of related experience plus an advanced degree and/or professional certification (CPA, CMA, etc.) will be considered.
Previous experience and/or knowledge of the financial services industry would be considered a plus.
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required. Candidates who can demonstrate previous experience equal to a 4 year degree plus the required years of experience will be considered.
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with the following skills:
Demonstrated problem solving ability
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong end-user computer skills with Excel, Word, Power Point, Hyperion, Financial Control System (FCS), and Automated Journal Entry Systems.
Flexible and able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Adaptive learner; able to grasp and apply new concepts in a timely manner
Ability to develop relationships with other Branch Banking Associates in various operating segments of TCF Branch Banking.
Ability to effectively apply business knowledge to meaningful analyses.
Ability to understand how their role fits into the successful operations of TCF's Branch Banking Business Line.
